CSCP - FAQS - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is recertification and why do Certified Perfusionists have to do this?

As the national certifying body for Perfusionists in Canada it is the CSCP’s mandate to ensure its’ certified perfusionists are staying current in their theoretical and clinical knowledge of extracorporeal technology and techniques.  Having our certified member’s file the recertification declaration every two years is a way of ensuring its’ members are up to Society standards.

Part of this process is filing these documents in a timely fashion - by the deadline.  If a certified member files their recertification declaration past the deadline of July 1 in the year they are required to file they are subject to pay the 50% late fee. NO EXCEPTIONS.

How do I find out if I have to file my recertification this year?

You will be notified on your dues invoice if you are required to recertify.  Notification is made in the comment section in the bottom left hand corner of the invoice which states "Recertification is Required by July 1" .  If the comment section of the invoice is blank, then, recertification IS NOT REQUIRED.

OR

You can visit the CSCP website at this link :  Certified Members List

If a *Red asterisk appears after your name on that list then recertification is required.

I have filed my recertification for this fiscal year ending June 30, 2010.  Why does an red asterisk* still remain beside my name on the certified member's list?

During the CSCP dues and recertification season, the Certified member's list is updated only after the CSCP board of directors has collected and accounted for ALL incoming annual dues and fees for that particular fiscal year.  Simply filing online does not remove the asterisk from your name or approve recertification.  Recertication in conjunction with verification of payment is reviewed by the CSCP Executive Secretary and final approval of the membership listing is done during the September board of directors meeting.  Not until that point is the list updated and reposted to the website to reflect the changes made for the upcoming fiscal year.  Members will be notified via eBlast when the membership list is updated.

Are there new Policy changes to the late fees?

The Board of Directors has instituted a new NO EXCEPTIONS policy for dues and recertification forms that are submitted after July 1 annually.  If payments or recertification declaration forms (if recert required) are not submitted by July 1 all members will be charged 50% of membership fee.  Late fee is REQUIRED when submitting payment after July 1 (online or by money order/certified cheque).

Late fee for certified members add: $150.00

Late fee for Associate members add: $112.50

Late fee for Student members add: $25.00
