Board of Directors

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of six members of the Society. These people volunteer their time to ensure that the Society functions smoothly, and best represents both the Canadian perfusionist, and their patients.

The terms of service are for three years. To participate on the Board of Directors, you must nominated by two other members, and then are elected into the position after a ballot. The call for nominations can be found here.

Roger Stanzel  •  President

Roger has been a staff perfusionist in Nova Scotia since 2011. Working at both QEII and IWK hospitals in Halifax, he works with both adult and pediatric cardiac patients. While completing his PhD in gastrointestinal disease research at Queen’s University, he did a job shadow with the perfusion team at Kingston General Hospital. That fall, Roger entered cardiovascular perfusion program at The Michener Institute through the academic stream. His clinical interests center on perfusion research with the goal of providing patients with the best possible care.

Cyril Serrick  •  Vice-President & Central Region Director

Cyril studied his Undergrad in Biochemistry at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Then he went to McGill and achieved a MSc in Experimental Surgery with a specialty in Lung Transplantation Immunology.  He started his career as a Perfusionist in 1995 and worked at the Montreal General Hospital and later Sunnybrook Health Science Center until in 2000 he became the Clinical Coordinator of Perfusion at Trillium Health Centre where he enjoyed the excitement of opening up a new cardiac program.  In 2011, after over 10 years at Trillium and much deliberation, Cyril chose to leave his family at Trillium to take on a much more challenging role and became the Manager of Perfusion at University Health Network where he currently works with 20 of the most dedicated Perfusion colleagues that he has ever known.  Perfusion has always been his passion.  His philosophy is to give back to the Perfusion community any way he can. For Cyril that has always translated into sharing the knowledge gained through all of one’s experiences. Everyone has something to contribute whether they realize it or not. It is Cyril’s pleasure to serve on the CSCP Board to again give back to the community and profession.
